Background

Introduction

Centre for Quality Assurance was officially established on February 10, 2011 after the approval by the UKM Board of Directors No. 1/2011 on February 10, 2011. Prior to its inception, all quality activities of UKM were conducted by the Quality Assurance Division under the administration of the Centre for Corporate Planning and Quality (CCPQ). The establishment of the CQA is in line with the recommendation of MQA Institution Assessment Panel Audit on UKMfrom 22 to 26 March 2010 wherebyUKM has been successfully granted Self-accreditation status (swaakreditasi) effective April 29, 2010. As a result of the Audit, MQA Panel has recommended that UKM reassessesexisting System quality Assurance (Sistem JK) and take steps to make the quality process more transparent and has integrity at all levels. MQA also recommended that UKM establishes a Centre for Quality Assurance (Pusat Jaminan Kualiti) to ensure UKM Quality Assurance System is more organised and effective.

 

Function

CQA is responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing audit, monitoring and quality improvement of core processes of academic and administration based on the quality framework of the university
  • Receiving and analysing customer feedback and complaints and monitoringfollow-up actions
  • Serving as a liaison with external parties in realising quality assurance agenda

 

Leadership

 Professor Ir. Dr. Shahrir Abdullah was the founder of the Centre for Quality Assurance when appointed  the first Director of CQA on February 10, 2011. The appointment is based on his experiences as Deputy Director (Quality Assurance) Centrefor Corporate Planning and Quality since 2008. He was also an Auditor / Lead auditor for MS Quality Management System ISO9001: 2008, whowas responsible for the implementation of the academic programme Internal Audit  based on MQA standard.

1) Quality Management Unit

Provides manuals, documentation and report on quality on behalf of the University

2) Audit and Evaluation Unit

Designs and implement audit, monitoring and quality improvement (enhancement) of core processes of academic and administration based on the quality framework of the University.
