Discussion on the Preparation of Glass Display Cabinet for Prehistoric Human Skeletal Artefacts with the Department of National Heritage (JWN) at the Anatomy Museum, Faculty of Medicine, UKM
25 July 2025 – A discussion session was held at the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) regarding the preparation of a glass display cabinet for the storage of prehistoric human skeletal artefacts at the Anatomy & Pathology Museum.
The discussion aimed to ensure that the management and exhibition of the artefacts are conducted ethically, professionally, and in accordance with established conservation standards. This initiative reflects UKM’s commitment to preserving the heritage of prehistoric human remains while supporting teaching and research in the fields of anatomy and medical history.
Those involved in the discussion included Mr. Zaharudin Abu, Director of the Archaeology Division, Department of National Heritage; Mr. Yazid Othman, Curator of the Respiratory and Development Branch, Archaeology Division, Department of National Heritage; Honorary Professor Dr. Ima Nirwana Soelaiman, Head of the Bone Metabolism Research Group (Prehistoric Human Division), Faculty of Medicine, UKM; Associate Professor Dr. Elvy Suhana Mohd Ramli, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Anatomy; Associate Professor Dr. Chin Kok Yong and Dr. Wong Sok Kuan from the Department of Pharmacology; Dr. Fairus Ahmad, Head of the Department of Anatomy; and Mr. Shaiful Ridzwan Sapri, Medical Laboratory Technologist, Faculty of Medicine, UKM.
This discussion is expected to serve as an important foundation in enhancing the educational and heritage value of the UKM Anatomy & Pathology Museum through a more systematic and engaging exhibition of prehistoric human artefacts.
