Real-Time PCR: Gene Expression Analysis Workshop 2022

16 June 2022 – On the 15 – 16 of June 2022, after two years of not being able to organize an offline workshop due to COVID19, UMBI finally managed to organise a hands-on workshop to train researchers from all over Malaysia in qPCR technique. This workshop was designed to introduce the basic concept of qPCR, applications and data analysis with much emphasis put on hands-on training. The hands-on training comprised total RNA extraction from colorectal tumour and normal cell lines, cDNA conversion, qPCR reaction optimization and relative quantification of genes of interest followed by a data analysis session.
A total of 10 researchers participated in this workshop. They were from UKM, USM, UIAM, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, FGV R&D Sdn. Bhd. and Jabatan Pertanian Malaysia. The participants were divided into four small groups. This enabled the participants to have close and direct interaction with the facilitators and gain complete qPCR hands-on experience. Overall, the participants were satisfied and gave positive feedback on the contents and hands-on training provided.
