Webinar Molecular Medicine in the Era of Digitization and Data Analytics

You are cordially invited to our webinar entitled “Molecular Medicine in the Era of Digitalization and Data Analytics” which is scheduled on the 27th of January 2021 (Wednesday), 2:15-5.00 p.m. This webinar is jointly organized by UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI) and Codon Genomics Sdn Bhd, a knowledge-intensive bioinformatics company based in Malaysia. The participation is free-of-charge, and the target audiences include but are not limited to university lecturers, clinical scientists, health science researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students.

Big data analysis has changed the way we manage, analyze and leverage data across industries, including healthcare settings. Healthcare analytics have the potential to reduce costs of treatment, predict outbreaks of epidemics, avoid preventable diseases and improve the quality of life in general. Big data obtained from next-generation sequencing (NGS) and genome-wide association study (GWAS) must be combined with systematic analytical approaches such as statistical modeling to the betterment of strategies in improving the healthcare system including personalized medicine.

In this webinar, the experts in this field will highlight several important topics on big data analysis from next-generation sequencing and genome-wide association study (GWAS) in diseases that are very prevalent in the Malaysia healthcare system. The topics include:

  1. Next Generation Sequencing of Colorectal Cancer in UMBI – Paving the Routes for Precision Medicine, presented by Dr. Nurul Syakima Ab Mutalib
  2. Type 2 Diabetes Predictive Model using Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS): A diverse Malaysian Cohort (TMC) Population Study, presented by Dr. Noraidatulakma Abdullah
  3. The Bayesian Paradigm in Modern Data Analytics, presented by Dr. Muhammad Irfan Abdul Jalal
  4. Next-Generation Sequencing and its Application in Medicine, presented by Su-Boon Chua
  5. Machine Learning in Medical Diagnosis: A Case Study with Wisconsin Breast Cancer Dataset, presented by Ching-Yee Lau
  6. Big Data Ecosystem for Precision Medicine, presented by Dr. Wei-Kang Lee
