General Research Lab

The Department of Anatomy has 3 general research labs namely Research Laboratory 1 (Proteomics), Research Laboratory 2 (Extraction) and Research Laboratory 3 (Genomics). These labs are located on the 9th floor of the PPUKM Pre-Clinical Building. These labs are used by our researchers as well as graduate and postgraduate students for research purposes.

Research Lab 1 - Proteomics

The primary purpose of this lab is to study the proteins. Currently it is equipped with basic apparatus capable of analyzing protein quantities. The department has plans to further develop the lab to cater for studies that include protein identification, isolation and classification. Among the equipment available in this laboratory are ELISA machines and homogenizers.

Research Lab 2 - Extraction

The laboratory was set up for the purpose of extraction of plants. Since most of the departmental research focuses on the role of natural herbs in combating diseases, the extraction of plants without relying on external laboratories has been an advantage for researchers in reducing production times and improving product quality. The lab is equipped with freeze dryer and extractor.

Research Lab 3 - Genomics

Genomic laboratories were established to study the genomic structures and functions. A genome is a complete set of DNA of an organism. Currently the lab is in its infancy stage with basic equipment such as RT-PCR and image analyzer. However, the department intends to widen its genome research in the future which including genome mapping, evolution and editing.

For rental of the equipment use in these laboratories, please refer to Equipment Rental under the Services menu.
