Introduction

The country needs competent human resources in line with the rapid advancement of telecommunications and computer networking industry before 2020 to achieve developed nation status. Exposure to the latest knowledge in computer engineering and telecommunications provide wide opportunities for students to serve in various sectors such as telecommunications (electronic communication), the manufacturing sector and manufacturing (tooling and control, mechatronics), the computer industry and information technology (information systems and engineering computer)

Applicants applying for the Master’s programmes should have the following qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or other universities approved by the Senate with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) ≥ 2.80; OR

Other relevant qualifications or experience approved by the Senate

International students are required to fulfil the English language requirement as follows:

Score not less than 550 in TOEFL; OR

not less than 5.5 in IELTS for a particular programme

International students who have the academic qualifications obtained from any local university approved by the Senate will be exempted from requirement (1)(a) but are required to take Ujian Kecekapan Bahasa Inggeris (UKBI) and if they do not acquire the level set by the program, the candidates are required to take and pass Modul Kemahiran Bahasa Inggeris (MKBI).

Faculty/Institute may grant exceptions to the English requirement for international students from countries with English as the official language or have academic qualifications obtained from institutions that use English as a medium of instruction.

Malay Language Courses (4 units)

All international students are required to follow two (2) Malay language courses equivalent to 4 units offered by the Citra Centre. Exemptions can be given to candidates who have taken and passed Malay language courses organized by other bodies recognized by the UKM Senate.

Introduction

This program aims to produce high-quality individuals in the field of strategic communication. The focus of this program is on developing individuals’ abilities as designers, implementers, and evaluators of communication impacts in line with the development of media and communication technology. Participants of the program will be provided with the latest knowledge and skills to face diverse communication situations. They will become individuals who are creative, critical, and innovative in integrating strategic communication elements and communication technology. They will also strive to connect the knowledge they have acquired with real-world contexts in a holistic manner and make recommendations to the government, private sector, and society. Master of Science in Engineering Education

Introduction

The purpose of this program is to produce graduate students who possess extensive knowledge, high skills, and caliber in the field of engineering education, along with research skills that align with technological advancements and ever-changing demands, while also embodying humanitarian values.

Additionally, the goal of the Master of Science in Engineering Education program is to equip graduates with the ability to conduct advanced research in the field of engineering education and solve complex problems. At the same time, it aims to generate discoveries that can lead to new knowledge. This proposed program also clearly supports the Fourth Industrial Revolution by adapting 21st-century skills, as classes are conducted using the latest technological platforms.

1. Ability to discuss and differentiate between concepts, processes, philosophies, and designs of scientific research.
2. Ability to analyze and synthesize literature related to the problem statement and research topics ethically.
3. Ability to formulate research problem statements for quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, and design and development approaches based on the literature.
4. Ability to justify the chosen study design and discuss the instrumentation and sampling techniques that will be used.

Individuals wishing to apply for the Master of Science program must meet the following qualifications:

    1. A Bachelor’s degree with Honors (CGPA 2.75 and above) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or an equivalent degree from any recognized university; OR
    2. CGPA 2.50 – 2.74, subject to thorough internal assessment; OR
    3. CGPA 2.00 – 2.49 with at least 5 years of relevant experience after obtaining the degree, and subject to thorough internal assessment.

International students must meet the English language requirement by achieving a minimum score of 5.5 in the IELTS or an equivalent score in any examination aligned with The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as approved by the Senate.

International students who do not meet the English language competency requirement may be granted a Conditional Offer as follows:

    1. Students are allowed to take internal English Preparation Courses at UKM for a maximum duration of two (2) years, subject to the regulations of the Malaysian Immigration Department in force;
    2. International students attending internal English Preparation Courses must sit for the IELTS, TOEFL, MUET, or any examination aligned with CEFR to meet the English language competency requirement. The list of examinations aligned with CEFR is subject to the Senate’s approval from time to time.

The Faculty/Institute may grant exemptions to the requirement stated in sub-regulation (a) for:

    • International students from countries where English is an official language; or
    • International students with academic qualifications from institutions that use English as the medium of instruction entirely and who intend to pursue higher studies at UKM.

International candidates are required to take and pass a Malay language course as stipulated by the University, specifically one of the following:

    • Course Code: LMCM1083 – Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi Antarabangsa
    • Course Code: LMCM1093 – Bahasa Melayu untuk Pelajar Nusantara

Exemptions may be granted to students who have completed equivalent Malay language courses offered by other bodies recognized by UKM.

Introduction

The specialty of industrial-organizational psychology (also called I/O psychology) is characterized by the scientific study of human behavior in organizations and the workplace. The specialty focuses on deriving principles of individual, group and organizational behavior and applying this knowledge to the solution of problems at work (American Psychology Association, 2008). Specialized knowledge and practice in the science of behavior in the workplace requires in-depth knowledge of organizational development, attitudes, career development, decision theory, human performance and human factors, consumer behavior, small group theory and process, criterion theory and development, job and task analysis and individual assessment. In addition, the specialty of industrial-organizational psychology requires knowledge of ethical considerations as well as statutory, administrative, and case law and executive orders as related to activities in the workplace (American Psychology Association, 2008). The specialty of Industrial Organizational Psychology addresses issues of recruitment, selection and placement, training and development, performance measurement, workplace motivation and reward systems, quality of work life, structure of work and human factors, organizational development and consumer behavior. I/O Psychologists are scientist-practitioners who have expertise in the design, execution and interpretation of research in psychology and who apply their findings to help address human and organizational challenges in the context of organized work. The distinct focus of I/O psychology is on human behavior in work settings. Therefore, the populations affected by the practice of I/O psychology include individuals in and applicants to business, industry, labor, public (including non-profit), academic, community and health organizations (American Psychology Association, 2008).

    • Bachelor’s Degree with Honors and have a CGPA of 2.75 and above from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or equivalent from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate;

    • Bachelor’s Degree with Honors and have a CGPA between 2.50-2.74 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or equivalent from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate and have at least 1-year working experience in a related field. If there is no working experience, the candidate must be a Research Assistant (RA) for a minimum period of 6 months and show a good performance certified by the supervisor; OR

    • Bachelor’s Degree with Honors and have a CGPA between 2.00-2.49 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or equivalent from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate

Master of Chemical Engineering

Introduction

The Master of Engineering (Chemical) programme is offered by Department of Chemical and Process Engineering as a coursework programme. The programme covers core courses of the chemical engineering programme such as process design and optimization, process design using latest computational techniques, risk analysis & safety and project management. Advances in emerging technologies are offered
through three choices of module; Biochemical Engineering, Process Sustainability Technology and Energy Engineering

Programme Advantages :

    • In accordance with the current knowledge development and fulfil the industry needs and stakeholders
    • Producing knowledgeable and skilled practitioner engineer and manager in managing modern manufacturing issues from product development to marketing.
Entry Requirement
    • A Bachelor of Engineering degree with honours (CGPA 2.75 and above) from The National University of Malaysia or its equivalent from any other recognized university; or

    • a) CGPA 2.50 – 2.74 with at least 1 year working experience in engineering field after obtaining the degree for Malaysian applicants

      b) CGPA 2.0 – 2.49 with at least 3 years working experience in engineering field after obtaining the degree for Malaysian applicants; or

    • A Bachelor of Science degree with honours (minimum CGPA 3.50) from The National University of Malaysia or its equivalent from any other recognized university; or

    • A bachelor science degree with honours (CGPA 3.49 and below) from The National University of Malaysia or its equivalent from any other recognized university with at least 3 years working experience in engineering or related fields after obtaining the degree for Malaysian applicants

    • Requirement for English Language
      For international candidates, requirements for English Language is minimum 550 (TOEFL) or 5.5 (IELTS).
