Synopsis:
This study explores the very first twin joint governmental projects, namely, China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park (CMQIP) and Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP). As these two parks are in an early stage of their developments, this research only remains as a preliminary attempt to trace developmental trajectories and envision the future. The primary focus of this talk will be shedding light on functions of local and central government, alliance structure, and organization. This also highlights some different features of the Suzhou Industrial Park which firstly established in 1994 as a joint venture between China and Singapore compared to CMQIP and MCKIP. This study will give some implications and address unsolved issues for these cases.
