UKM CREaM RICE - Climate Resilient & Early Maturing Rice

Designed to safeguard Malaysia’s agricultural future, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), in partnership with IRRI and Nuclear Malaysia, has developed a breakthrough series of climate-resilient rice breeding  lines, including UKMRC12, UKMPL-1, UKMPL-2, UKMPL-6, UKMRL-37 and UKMPL-85. By integrating advanced marker-assisted breeding (MAB) & mutational breeding, these rice breeding lines empower farmers with a rapid 90–100 day maturity cycle and impressive yields exceeding 10 t/ha. Engineered to thrive in harsh conditions—from droughts and floods to acidic and salty soils—these lines are currently undergoing local trials to ensure they meet the real-world needs of Malaysian farmers. More than just a scientific achievement, this initiative is a vital contribution to the intensified rice planting system, boosting rice self-sufficiency and securing a sustainable, prosperous livelihood for the Malaysian farming community.

An optimized process for transforming palm oils or any other plant oils into polyols, using a single-step one pot process to produce a range of well characterized products as desired has been innovated. It is a proprietary, patent protected, synthetic method yielding polyols of different grades (for different applications) that offer significant cost/performance advantages over natural oil polyols produced by other processes.
