UKM Retains Five Star Plus HURS Recognition for Four Consecutive Years

SURABAYA, 14 October 2026 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has once again achieved a remarkable international milestone by retaining the highest Five Star Plus recognition in the Healthy University Rating System (HURS) for four consecutive years.

This prestigious recognition was presented in conjunction with the 11th AUN-HPN International Advisory Committee (IAC) Meeting and the 5th International Health Promotion Conference, held at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, Indonesia. The ceremony was officiated by the Rector of Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin.

Of the 41 universities from six participating countries — Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam — only four universities achieved the Five Star Plus recognition. More notably, UKM was the only university from Malaysia to attain this highest distinction.

The recognition was received on behalf of UKM by Associate Professor Dr. Fariza Khalid, Deputy Executive Director (Excellence and Distinction), UKM Strategy Centre.

This achievement reflects UKM’s holistic and sustained commitment to fostering a culture of health promotion, well-being and campus safety for the entire university community, in line with its aspiration to establish a healthy, safe and conducive campus ecosystem.

This success is also the result of the collective efforts and commitment of the entire UKM community, particularly its faculties, institutes, centres, service entities and various stakeholders who have continuously contributed data and supporting evidence covering all aspects of the HURS assessment.

UKM Strategy Centre extends its highest appreciation to all parties who have played a role in sustaining this excellence.

May this recognition serve as a catalyst for UKM to continue strengthening its healthy campus culture and promoting the well-being of its university community.
