Associate. Prof. Dr. Maizom Hassan obtained her Bachelor (1999), Masters (2004) and Ph.D. Degrees (2008) in Bioresources Science from the University of Tottori, Japan. After completing her studies, she was appointed as a Research Fellow/Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Her current research focuses on the development of biorational insecticide for oil palm pest management by using integrated systems biology, enzymology and entomology approaches. Her research interests were manifested in 4 patents, 3 book, 1 book-chapter and 45 publications which include 39 publications in high-impact journals such as Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, Insects, Insect Molecular Biology, Genes and PloS ONE. Her publications attracted 385 citations with h-index of 11. Expressions of interest in joining the research collaboration and activity with Associate Prof. Dr. Maizom’s lab are always welcome. Please contact her via e-mail (maizom@ukm.edu.my) for further discussion.

-
Dr. Hamizah Shahirah Hamezah's research group has a great interest in understanding the mechanisms of learning and memory, as well as interventions for the cognitive decline during aging and neurodegenerative diseases. They focus on finding possible biomarkers leading to the cognitive decline in brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases by using the state-of-art omics approaches, brain imaging, and cognitive neurosciences. They are interested in finding possible therapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases by investigating the effect of natural compounds on transgenic animal models. If you are interested in collaborating with her, please email her at hamizahshahirah@ukm.edu.my.

Dr. Ahmad Faris bin Seman @ Kamarulzaman is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pahang. He holds a PhD in Systems Biology from the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), where his research focused on integrating transcriptomic and proteomic data to uncover molecular targets for pest control in Rhynchophorus ferrugineus. He also holds a Master’s degree in Systems Biology and a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biotechnology.
-
With a strong foundation in proteomics, transcriptomics, and computational biology, Dr. Faris brings years of hands-on experience in omics-driven research. His passion lies in making complex data analysis more approachable and applicable, especially for researchers and students venturing into bioinformatics and molecular biology.
-
He is one of the contributing authors of the Introduction to Proteomics Analysis Workshop Practical Handbook and has developed a copyrighted module on managing technical and biological replicates in proteomics using Perseus. His teaching approach focuses on bridging theory with real-world application, offering practical skills that can be immediately applied in research.
-
Dr. Faris believes that proteomics holds the key to answering many unanswered biological questions, and he hopes to empower more researchers to harness its potential. He can be reached at afkamarulzaman@uitm.edu.my.
