Metabolomics

Metabolomics can be defined as the study of metabolic response of organisms to environmental changes. Metabolomics enables quantitative evaluation of metabolic changes that reflect in phenotype and function. While genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics focus on the gene expression, metabolomics unravels the metabolite contents, which represent the final products in a biological system. Metabolomics relies heaviliy in analytical platforms in which metabolites are quantified and used for interpretation and data mining.
