Introduction
Optometry is a field that involves the examination and management of vision problems and ocular diseases to restore visual functions and maintain eye health. The Optometry and Vision Sciences. The program study duration is at least four years or eight semesters. In the first and second years, learning includes basic courses in eye and vision health, ocular diseases, visual optics, and procedures in the optometry clinic. Learning moves from theory to clinical application in optometry over the next two years. Clinical teaching includes primary optometry clinics, contact lens clinics, and specialization clinics such as binocular vision, paediatric and low vision clinics.

Entry Requirements
Matriculation/ Foundation applicant
- Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the KPM Matriculation / Foundation level;
and
- Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in:
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
and
Passed with at least 5 subjects at Grade C at the SPM level, including three (3) of the following subjects:
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
and
- Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released
or
- Band 5.5 in IELTS
or
iBT score of 46 in TOEFL
and
- Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
STPM Applicant
- Obtained at least a Grade B- (NGMP 2.67) at the STPM level in the following subjects:
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics (M) / Mathematics (T)
and
- Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released
or
- Band 5.5 in IELTS
or
- iBT score of 46 in TOEFL
and
- Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
Diploma or Equivalent Applicant
- Possess a Diploma in Science / Health Sciences / Equivalent Diploma from an Educational Institution or Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia College recognized by the University, the Malaysian Optical Council (MOC), and the Malaysian Government*
and
- Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.50
Note: *Admission with a diploma other than those mentioned above is subject to faculty approval
and
- Candidates must submit academic transcripts from Semester 1 to the final Semester
and
- Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released
