CENTER FOR DIAGNOSTIC, THERAPEUTIC AND INVESTIGATIVE STUDIES (CODTIS)
INTRODUCTION
Centre of Diagnostic, Therapeutic & Investigative Studies (CODTIS) officially established on December 1, 2019. Its members employ a wide range of expertise; forensic science, diagnostic imaging and therapeutic experimental. Due to its wide range of specialists, CODTIS is capable of being the center of reference and research by a variety of government and private agencies who often require our experts as consultants. Among the organisations involved are Nuclear Diagnostic Imaging Center, UPM, National Cancer Institution, Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Mobecomm Technologies Sdn Bhd, Department of Wildlife and National Parks, Department of Fire and Rescue, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Kidszania, Petrosains. We were not only produced knowledge but also produced a variety of patents and copyrights that have been and will be potentially used by the industry. The novel isolation of the national Streptomyces strain produces novel phenazine derivatives that have high potential as new antibiotic agents and are registered under patent number UKM.IKB.800-4 / 1/1074. We were not limited to university research, but some members have collaborated with other agencies like Malaysian Cocoa Board to isolate Lactobacillus bacteria from cocoa fermentation as a probiotic substance. CODTIS is also involved in consultations with other agencies such as INTERPOL and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
