Introduction
The Speech Sciences program primarily prepares students to practice as speech-language therapists (SLTs) (also known in Malay as Pegawai Pemulihan Perubatan Pertuturan), who are experts in communication. SLTs are health practitioners who identify, diagnose and treat individuals with problems related to speech sound; fluency; voice; language; literacy; social and cognitive communication; as well as feeding and swallowing. Students will follow the foundation and basic science courses at the Kuala Lumpur campus prior to clinical learning, which takes place at our in-house clinic facility, external clinics, schools and community sites.

Speech-Language Therapists serve in a variety of sectors including:

Program Acreaditation
Entry Requirements
Matriculation/ Foundation applicant
- Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the KPM Matriculation / Foundation level;
and
- Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
and
- Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released
or
- Band 5.5 in IELTS
or
iBT score of 46 in TOEFL
and
- Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
STPM Applicant
- Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the STPM level;
and
- Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) at STPM level in:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Mathematics (M) / Mathematics (T)
and
- Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released
or
- Band 5.5 in IELTS
or
- iBT score of 46 in TOEFL
and
- Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
Diploma or Equivalent Applicant
- Possess a Diploma in Science / Health Sciences / Medical Science / Equivalent Diploma from an Educational Institution or Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia College recognized by the University and the Malaysian Government
and
- Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.50
and
- Candidates must submit academic transcripts from Semester 1 to the final Semester
and
- Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released
or
- Band 5.5 in IELTS
or
- iBT score of 46 in TOEFL
and
- Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
A-Level Applicant
- Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the A-Level;
and
- Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Mathematics and
- Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released
or
- Band 5.5 in IELTS
or
- iBT score of 46 in TOEFL
and
- Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD) Applicant
- Pass the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a minimum score of 30;
and
- At least a score of 5 at the High Level (HL) for:
- Biology
- Physics
- Mathematics (HL)
and
- Pass other subjects at the Standard Level (SL).
and
- Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released
or
- Band 5.5 in IELTS
or
- iBT score of 46 in TOEFL
and
- Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
