Overview

History of Faculty 

The Faculty of Education (FPEND) started out as an Education Department within the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities in 1972. This department was upgraded to the status of a Faculty on 16 October 1986. FPEND now operates in its own building located at the second phase, of Bangi campus. FPEND is supported by the Department Foundation of Education and Educational Methodology and Practices in conducting programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate education.

Overview

Software engineering principles involves a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable and organised approach throughout its entire systems development life cycle. Our Bachelor of Software Engineering (Information Systems Development) programme is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the specification, development, implementation, testing, maintenance and evolution of software systems especially for the development of business and organizational-based information systems. The programme cultivates competent software engineers through strong fundamental knowledge in software development and project management, and hands-on practices of current practical approaches and technologies from the industry. The versatility of our graduates enables them to fit into various career opportunities including software engineers, systems or requirements analysts, software or systems designers, programmers, software testers and information systems executives. Graduates are also fundamentally equipped to explore the software engineering field more in-depth academically in relevant postgraduate degree programme. 

    • Possess fundamental knowledge, principles and skills relating to Software Engineering especially in the field of Information System Development.  
    • Have strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve problems by applying knowledge, principles and skills relating to Software Engineering especially in the field of Information System Development for lifelong learning.  
    • Are competent in applying appropriate methodologies, models and techniques that provide a basis for analysis, design, development, testing and implementation, evaluation, maintenance and documentation of a large scale software system.

Overview

Information Technology (IT) has an important role in our everyday life. IT enables individuals and organisations to gather, organise and analyse data quickly to assist them achieve their goals. The rapidly changing technologies in IT world requires IT professionals to adapt themselves with these changes. It is therefore, this programme is tailored to address these important aspects with aspiration to equip graduates with a strong IT foundation and practical skills. Graduates of the programme can explore various career opportunities such as information/systems design analysts; IT developer for manufacturing, production and computing industries; data scientist; programmer and consultant. Apart from the industrial training, the programme also benefits from hands-on training session conducted by our industry partner.
