INTRODUCTION
The Masters (by research) and PhD program are aimed at students to pursue advance level knowledge in specialized areas of hearing and speech-language. The Master’s program is conducted over 2 years and the PhD program in 3 years. Students are closely supervised to conduct research in specific areas in Audiology and Speech-language Pathology.
RESEARCH AREAS
Areas in Audiology include:
- Auditory perception and intervention
- Outcomes of hearing amplification and cochlear implantation
- Neurophysiological aspects of auditory and vestibular disorders
- Clinical and epidemiological study of auditory and related disorders
- Tinnitus and noise-induced hearing loss in children
- Vestibular rehabilitation
- Aural Rehabilitation
- Cultural adaptation of evaluation tools / outcome measures
- Education and service provision in audiology
Areas in Speech-language pathology include:
- Children’s language
- Articulation and phonology
- Voice & Resonance
- Fluency
- Swallowing and Feeding
- Acquired speech and language disorder
- Augmentative and alternative communication
- Telepractice
- Aural Rehabilitation
- Community-based Rehabilitation
- Education and service provision in speech-language pathology
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor Degree in related field with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any Institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate; or
- Other qualification equivalent to a Bachelor Degree and other qualification or experience recognized by the Senate.
- International applicant should get a minimum score of 550 for TOEFL or Band 6.0 for IELTS
Bahasa Melayu is compulsory for all foreign students and must be taken and passed prior to graduation.
