Introduction

The Physiotherapy Program at UKM offers studies aimed at producing Physiotherapy Medical Rehabilitation Officers or Physiotherapists, who are key members of the health science profession. This profession provides services to individuals and communities to improve, maintain, or restore optimal movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan. It also includes the provision of treatment for conditions in which movement and function are affected by ageing, injury, or disease. Optimal movement and function are essential to achieving true health and quality of life (adapted from the World Confederation of Physical Therapy, 1999). This academic program also complies with the Allied Health Professions Act 2016.

Physiotherapists work in:
– Government, private and overseas Hospitals and Health Clinics
– Rehabilitation centers in the community
– SOCSO rehabilitation center
– Public and private university clinics
Physiotherapy Instructor at public/private universities/MoH colleges
Private Physiotherapy Practitioner

Entry Requirements

Matriculation/ Foundation applicant

Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the KPM Matriculation / Foundation level;

and

- Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in:
  - Biology
  - Mathematics
and
- Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in Physics Matriculation level
or
- At least Grade B at the SPM level in Physics.

and

Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released

Band 5.5 in IELTS

iBT score of 46 in TOEFL

and

Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.

STPM Applicant

Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the STPM level;

and

Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in:
- Biology
- Mathematics (M) / Mathematics (T)

and

Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in Physics in STPM Level

Obtained at least a Grade B at the SPM level in Physics

and

Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released

Band 5.5 in IELTS

iBT score of 46 in TOEFL
and
Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.

Diploma or Equivalent Applicant

Possess a Diploma in Physiotherapy / Diploma in Science / Equivalent Diploma from an Educational Institution or Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia College recognized by the University and the Malaysian Government

and

Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.67

and

Candidates must submit academic transcripts from Semester 1 to the final Semester

and

Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released

Band 5.5 in IELTS

iBT score of 46 in TOEFL

and

Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.

A-Level Applicant

Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the A-Level;

and
