BACHELOR OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY WITH HONOURS

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM

INTRODUCTION

Occupational therapy is a health profession that aims to improve, maintain, restore independence and productivity in various fields of work among individuals affected by disability, injury, chronic illness or cognitive impairment. Occupational therapy involves individuals in the concept of self-care, work/productivity, and play/leisure activities to encourage participation in daily activities that aim to restore the individual’s role to be active in society. This field of study focuses on various disciplines such as children, the elderly, psychosocial dysfunction, orthopedics, and physical dysfunction and equips students with the knowledge and skills required as a competent Occupational Therapist to assist individuals of all ages and conditions in achieving the best quality of life.

CAREER PROSPECTS

1) Occupational therapists work in: – Government, private and overseas Hospitals and Health Clinics – Special education school – Rehabilitation centers in the community – Social welfare Department – SOCSO rehabilitation center – Public and private university clinics – Early childhood education centers in the country and abroad

2) Occupational Therapy Instructor at public/private universities/MoH colleges

3) Private Occupational Therapy Practitioner

DEGREE RECOGNITION

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

  • Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the KPM Matriculation / Foundation level;

                                                                                                                     and

    • Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in:
      • Biology
      • Mathematics

                                                                                                                    and

    • Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in Physics in Matriculation level

                                                                                                                     or

    • At least Grade B at the SPM level in Physics.

                                                                                                                       and

  • Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released

                                                                                                                         or

  • Band 5.5 in IELTS

                                                                                                                         or

  • iBT score of 46 in TOEFL

                                                                                                                         and

  • Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
  • Obtained at least a CGPA of 2.67 at the STPM level;

                                                                                                               and

  • Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in:
    • Biology
    • Mathematics (M) / Mathematics (T)

                                                                                                              and

  • Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in Physics in STPM Level

                                                                                                               or

  • Obtained At least a Grade B at the SPM level in Physics

                                                                                                               and

  • Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released

                                                                                                               or

  • Band 5.5 in IELTS

                                                                                                                or

  • iBT score of 46 in TOEFL

                                                                                                          and

  • Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
  • Possess a Diploma in Science / Health Sciences / Equivalent recognized by the University and the Malaysian Government or Ministry of Health (MOH)

                                                                                                            and

  • Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.50 

                                                                                                           and

  • Candidates must submit academic transcripts from Semester 1 to the final Semester

                                                                                                            and

  • Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released

                                                                                                               or

  • Band 5.5 in IELTS

                                                                                                                or

  • iBT score of 46 in TOEFL

                                                                                                              and

  • Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
  • Obtained at least a CGPA of 3.00 at the A-Level;

                                                                                                                            and

  • Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in:
    • Biology
    • Mathematics

                                                                                                                              and

  • Obtained at least a Grade B- (GP 2.67) in Physics in A-Level

                                                                                                                               and

  • At least a Grade B at the SPM level in Physics

                                                                                                                               and

  • Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released

                                                                                                                                or

  • Band 5.5 in IELTS

                                                                                                                               or

  • iBT score of 46 in TOEFL

                                                                                                                               and

  • Pass the test and/or interview set by the faculty.
  • Pass the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a minimum score of 30;

                                                                                                                       and                       

  • At least a score of 5 at the High Level (HL) for:
    • Biology
    • Physics
    • Mathematics (HL)

                                                                                                                      and

  • Pass other subjects at the Standard Level (SL).

                                                                                                                      and

  • Obtained at least Band 3.00 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for examinations starting from session 1 of 2021 according to its validity period of 5 years from the date the test results are released

  • Band 5.5 in IELTS

                                                                                                                       or

  • iBT score of 46 in TOEFL

                                                                                                                        and

      • Chemistry
      • Mathematics / Physics
