UKM T.E.R.A.S Values

TERAS and Kebitaraan (Excellence Niches) is the new narrative representing the role of a national university which belongs to its people and the society as a whole. The TERAS framework serves as a reference to guide the direction of the university in improving its achievements to the highest levels. TERAS stands for Talent, Ethics, Revitalise, Agile and Soul, all of which steer the 5 Excellence Niches namely Nationalism, Intellectual Mind, Holistic, Digital, and Caring.

These 5 Excellence niches are further expanded to 25 initiatives which become the foundation of UKM’s strategic planning and key performance indexes. Based on the essence of TERAS values and the elements of the Excellence Niches, there two main agendas that must be accomplished were Graduate Employability and Income Generation.

The 4 th Series of National Identity Program

Organized by The Department of Registrar, this series was held for 3 days and 2 nights at Kem Wawasan Negara, Ulu Kenas, Kuala Kangsar, Perak from 16 th of Jun 2023 to 18 th of June 2023.

This program was initiated by UKM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Gs. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Hj. Toriman and UKM Registrar, Dato’ Dr. Syed Kamarudin Hj. Sadakkuthulla which came to be the Chairman of National Identity Program. This series benefitted 91 participants which consisted of Directors and Deputy Directors of Centres and Departments, Deputy Deans of Faculties, and Deputy College Principals as well as representatives from staff associations. The Chairman of the UKM Board of Directors, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abd. Razak also graced the program.

The objective of the National Identity Program is to bring together members of the university’s top management and the participants for the purpose of teambuilding in addition to strengthening leadership qualities and teamwork. These values ​​are important in UKM’s efforts to cultivate nationalism among its people to cope with the current changes and needs of this national university.

This program was also attended by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Gs. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Hj. Toriman; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation Affairs), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Wan Kamal Mujani; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Partnerships Affairs), Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Norazah Mohd Nordin; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students and Alumni Affairs), Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Suzeren Md Jamil; Registrar, Dato’ Dr. Syed Kamarudin Sadakkuthulla; UKMSHAPE Director, Prof. Datuk Dr. Muhammad Bin Hussin; Deputy Senior Registrar, Human Resource Division, Tuan Haji Zanudin Mohd Daud; and Prof. Dr. Norinsan Kamil Othman as the speaker of the program.
