3.3.3 – Shared sports facilities
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) provides a wide range of shared sports facilities to promote the physical well-being and fitness of its students, staff and the surrounding community. These facilities are designed to encourage active and healthy lifestyles, supporting both recreational activities and organized sports events.
In line with UKM’s community engagement initiatives, the university opens its state-of-the-art sports facilities to the local community, including nearby schools and the general public. This effort aims to foster physical fitness, promote healthy living and strengthen social cohesion through shared access and participation.
UKM also offers free access to sports facilities, including the jogging tracks at UKM Stadium and a variety of outdoor courts (basketball, sepak takraw, volleyball and football), provided that their use does not coincide with scheduled tournaments or official events. This inclusive approach reflects UKM’s commitment to enhancing community well-being and promoting sustainable, healthy lifestyles.

UKM SPORTS CENTER
The UKM Sports Complex is the central hub for many sporting activities on campus. It houses a variety of indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including Azman Hashim UKM Sports Arena, UKM Stadium, UKM Swimming Complex and Danau Golf Club UKM.
1. Azman Hashim UKM Sports Arena
Azman Hashim UKM Sports Arena was funded by Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Malaysian banker and philanthropist located at UKM Bangi. This sports arena is regularly used by local schools and the public, fostering a sense of community engagement and encouraging active lifestyles. Reservations for these facilities can be made through the counter at the UKM Pavilion, ensuring organized and fair access to these resources.


UKM provides a dedicated women’s gymnasium at the Azman Hashim Sport Arena, offering a safe and empowering space for female staff and students to engage in fitness and wellness activities, supporting a healthier and more inclusive campus environment.
2. UKM Swimming Complex
UKM has a Swimming Pool Complex that is open to the public located at UKM Bangi. The public can visit the complex every day except Wednesday evenings, to provide time for swimming classes and training sessions for instructors to undergo their weekly training and skill enhancement for teaching quality. The use of the pool is free. By providing shared sports facilities, UKM promotes physical activity, which is crucial for maintaining good health and preventing non-communicable diseases such as obesity and heart disease. This initiative supports not only the health of the university community but also that of the wider public.

3. Tennis and Squash Courts
UKM also provides both outdoor and indoor tennis courts, as well as squash courts, which are open for use by students, staff and community members that are located in UKM Bangi.


4. UKM Stadium
UKM Stadium located at UKM Bangi has a seating capacity of 450 people. The stadium features a 400-meter running track designed for sports events for free. The field is equipped for various events, including shot put, high jump, discus throw, pole vault and javelin throw.

OTHER SPORTS FACILITIES
1. Danau Golf Club UKM
Danau Golf Club, located within the National University of Malaysia (UKM), Bangi is a well-established golfing destination that offers a picturesque and challenging 18-hole golf course. Set amidst natural surroundings, the course features rolling hills, scenic lakes and lush greenery, providing both aesthetic appeal and a test of skill for golfers.
The golf club caters to golfers of all levels, offering facilities such as a driving range, pro shop and clubhouse with dining options. It also serves as a venue for golfing tournaments and events, making it a popular spot for both recreational golfers and competitive players. With its strategic location on the UKM campus, the Danau Golf Club is easily accessible to students, staff, and the public.

2. Kolej Permata Pintar’s Sports Complex
The Kolej PERMATA Pintar Sports Complex at UKM is an award-winning facility, recognized with the Silver PAM Award in 2015 for Sports & Recreation Category. It features a large outdoor field and a running track. The complex supports a variety of sports and recreational activities, serving both educational and competitive purposes such as inter-school competition.

3. Swimming Pool @ Pusat Permata Pintar
The swimming pool at Pusat Permata@Pintar Negara, UKM is an Olympic-size facility located in a scenic area, facing the UKM forest reserve. It offers a high-standard swimming experience, providing space for training, events and recreational activities. The pool is designed to meet the needs of students and visitors for both professional and leisure swimming.
