Yes, UKM has tracking of women’s likelihood of graduating compared to men’s, and schemes in place to close any gap.

The table below shows a consistent pattern of female dominance in graduation rates across all education levels, reflecting steady progress toward gender equality in higher education.

From 2022 to 2024, females consistently outnumber males at the bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels. The female proportion (%F) remains high—around 66% for bachelor’s, 63–64% for master’s, and 57–65% for PhD. Although the female percentage at the PhD level shows a slight decline (from 64.95% in 2022 to 57.17% in 2024), women still represent the majority of graduates overall.

This trend indicates that UKM provides an inclusive academic environment where women have strong access to and success in higher education, especially at undergraduate and postgraduate taught levels, with a relatively balanced gender representation even at the doctoral stage.

Overall, 2024 saw continued strong female representation, affirming UKM’s dedication to SDG 5.
